The other plum paintings were painted outside with sunlight while this one was in the studio with artificial light because it rained. But then there was some daylight coming in through the window - that's the bright light on the left. The container is about as high as a jam glass, but the plums are small as they are wild - more like cherries.

How dramatic. There is something about the dark purple and the way you highlight the glass with the warm table colour that is just wonderful.
Seeing these plums gives me the illusion of having spent summers with you in France before, and makes me really wish I was there.
