Early Evening

Early Evening by Liza Hirst

oil on canvas panel - Öl auf Malplatte - huile sur carton entoilé

Twilight outside, warm light inside - love this atmosphere! If it were not so cold I would like to paint the lit up windows from outside at this time of day, but I might try to get some good photographs and paint from them.

We recently had a few days of bleak blistering cold – so when you present this warm interior it’s such a relief almost like a dream where one could go and take shelter and never leave!

Lovely composition and paint handling here Liza.

This is an excellent painting with athmosphere! The red interior allows you to represent early evening in all its glory. A couple siluettes in background makes the painting even more enigmatic and mesmerizing.

Hi Marcia,
It has become very cold here, too - well, at least for this regien it is cold (-8° celsius) maybe not or you in Canada!
The interior looks warmer than the temperature we feel...

Hi Liza,

I love the abstract quality in this one, and the surprise of the window at the far side of the room. Lovely.
