Here you see what I have been working on over the last few days (weeks actually!) - a commission of some friends of mine as a birthday gift for the lady's mother.
It was fun taking it to their house this afternoon - for one thing the painting was very well received and secondly it went along with an invitation to a charming little lady's tea party, topped with sparkling champagne in the early evening. Thank you very much, Monique!!

The Letter

I know - this might be a bit kitschy... - but then, hey, I sometimes like kitsch!
This was the atmosphere in our living room today and I felt like capturing it no matter what. Somewhere midway I thought I could never post it - it looked very chocolate boxy - but after working on it a bit more I actually started to like it and dared to show it to you.

Snow in France

Today was a lovely, clear day with blue sky and lots of sunshine - nevertheless very cold...
The snow was sparkling and inspred me to paint an exterior again.

The days are so short at this time of the year, the mornings still so dark - making it as cosy and warm as possible helps. And luckily it won't be long until they start getting longer again!

Early Evening

Twilight outside, warm light inside - love this atmosphere! If it were not so cold I would like to paint the lit up windows from outside at this time of day, but I might try to get some good photographs and paint from them.

The Glass Door

Another view of the hallway, this time without any electric lights on. When I started with this painting, the sun was shining, but then it got overcast and darker, so that the painting eventually turned out much darker than I had planned.
Nevertheless I quite like it.

Slowly but surely I am running out of corners to paint and am thinking of asking friends if I could perhaps paint in their houses, because I really enjoy doing these interiors.
Will change the photo tomorrow - the painting is better actually than it looks here...

I thought I wouldn't have a daily for you today, after having spent the whole day on finishing a commission. I called it a day and sat down in our living room, quite exhausted, when suddenly this view made me forget about all that and sparked new energy in me. Isn't creativity just fantastic?! I am so pleased I didn't give in to the couch potato feeling!

Yes, we have a cow in the kitchen - she's very old and loves looking out of the window!
