Sunset Barcelona

Sunset Barcelona by Liza Hirst

oil on canvas panel - Öl auf Malplatte - huile sur carton entoilé
15 cm x 15 cm / 5,9" x 5,9"

As far as I can remember, I have never dared to paint a sunset sky before. Most painted sunsets are simply too kitschy for me and I was afraid that would happen to mine, too - well, it has.
BUT - I like it nevertheless. Maybe just because it was so much fun painting it, enjoying all those fantastic colours and trying to capture the delicate sky behind the strong clouds.

I often look at a sunset and think it wouldn't look real if I tried to paint it. Yours is very convincing. It came out great.

I feel the same way but how can we resist? I like yours a lot ..the dimly lit buildings are a nice touch

Thank you both! I am pleased you like it, as it is a difficult subject.
