Red Ball with Ashes

How do you like the speckles on this one?
The original painting didn't actually have those spots on it, but unfortunately, when I was trying to display the finished canvas on a small easel standing on the mantelpiece of our open fireplace, I DROPPED it into the ashes!! You can imagine my frustration! Nevertheless I find the transformation interesting to a certain extent and have thus decided to let it dry like this and give anybody who likes it, the chance to make an offer on it. It will be interesting to see whether anything comes along....

could be a serendipitous thing....I thought it (the speckles) was intentional & showed great action!! Love it!

Sorry for my late reply, Roxanne, and thank you for your kind comment. I must confess that I'm not quite sure what
"serendipitous" means. Anyway, maybe I should drop other paintings of mine in the ashes every now and then ....

Noooo - not to drop them all in the ashes!!!

....but serendipitous - it's when those odd things happen that turn out to be okay ...or even better than okay, sometimes quite wonderful (the little dog playing with the ball)!! I've always admired your paintings - each one is beautiful! But the little dog & red ball especially caught my eye!

Liza,

I just came to your site from Apartment Therapy! And I really like this painting, especially with the ashes. If it's not sold, I'd like to find out what you are asking for it.

Thanks!
Renee
