Liza, I totally agree with you. Trying out new approaches, different ways is so important I think for our development. Sometimes the approaches can be quite subtle but here I think you have taken your courage in your hands and adopted some major changes. I love the way the figures comprise one family but also seem to be quite separate beings- 'within themselves' somehow.
Liza, This painting jumped out at me on the DPG and Ilove the new direction that you are taking. I like Shiela's comment above describing the togetherness yet separateness. I look forward to seeing more of this new direction.
Thank you so much, Linn! You hit the nail right on the head! I am pleased to know now that I actually managed to capture that feeling. Coincidently I had a visitor from Ottawa yesterday telling me that she was planning to move to Victoria because it is such a wonderful city - and today I discover your work! Guess that was supposed to happen - just perfect. I was very impressed by your ability to paint "light" - although your paintings are not realistic, they transmit a feeling of actually standing there in the sunshine! Wow!

Hi Liza,
This is lovely, so abstract and yet real too. Super.

Hi Barbara,
I am quite excited about this one myself and hope it is a step in a slightly different direction.
I am very pleased you like it.

Thank you so much, Sheila and Gretchen, for your encouragement! I am touched and thrilled by the interest you share in this painting.
This piece is wonderful, Liza. (Feels like that feeling of a social situation when every one there is feeling uncomfortable.)
