oil on canvas panel - Öl auf Malplatte - huile sur carton entoilé
15 cm x 15 cm / 5,9" x 5,9"
Buy it hereMy things are a mixture of old and new, antique and modern, expensive and worth hardly anything (more of that), sophisticated and kitshy - I like beautiful things, interesting things and funny things. Maybe that's why I also like to change my style of painting every so often.

I saw this one and immediately thought the candle has to burn!
This is such a sad view now.
Nicely painted anyhow.
Sorry I forgot to mark the follow-up square.
Oh Liza - that silver is painted beautifully! I especially love the way you handled the (viewers) left side. Wow. Perfect stroke of colour.
Hi Liza,
I have almost the same candlestick. I too like a mix of old and new, and everything is not valued by its value, but by whether or not it appeals to me, and to us.
This is lovely.
Great work.

Hi René,
So you think it's a sad painting, he? I thought about whether to light the candle or not but then I decided not to. I liked the idea that the viewer could imagine lighting it, could take action in his mind. Which you did, see!
Thank you anyway, René - I always appreciate your honest opinion!
Thank you, Kim! I am enjoying trying to capture the different materials - a good exercise.
Barbara, again you have found the perfect words to describe what I meant! Thank you!
Wow, what a perfect combo of warm and cool grays! This is just the inspiration I need right now, it is such a challenge to make the all the grays different and beautiful like you've done here!
Yes a little bit I do. But what
you say is also a possibility, an
other one would be, ... sticking a
new candle in, that would be much
better in both ways, one you start
something new, and two you didn't
have the sad image that you've got
now. I do exaggerate the sadness a
bit though, hope you don't mind
about that but it does speaks a
lot better I'll guess. It's a bit
like painting a closed fence, ...
if you know what I mean.
Thanks for your nice comment, Karen. I am really enjoying that challenge at the moment!
I know what you mean, René. I'll keep you in mind next time when I paint a candle!
I love it!
Thanks,Mary!
