My Things, Pepper Shaker

My Things, Pepper Shaker by Liza Hirst

oil on canvas panel - Öl auf Malplatte - huile sur carton entoilé
15 cm x 15 cm / 5,9" x 5,9"
Buy it here

I bought this pepper shaker in Ann Arbor, Michigan, years ago. It seems so American to me, reminiscent of the typical diner-style, which we find very "cool" here in Europe. It was the colour of course that attracted my attention in the first place and while painting it today, I enjoyed all the dfferent greens that I didn't expect to discover.
I would like to just excuse for not having answered or written any comments lately, but we are experiencing quite an usual cold here at the moment and unfortunately my computer is installed in the coldest room of the house. So I just manage to post my painting and write a few words before my hands and feet feel like ice cubes. As soon as it gets warmer again, I will get back to you all. Thank you very much, also in advance for your kind comments!

HI Liza,
I hope that things warm up for you, sounds freezing! I don't think that I ever had a chance to let you know how much I enjoyed your book of paintings! I just love it!! It arrived in the midst of the holiday frenzy, and I somehow lost track of commenting! Over the weekend, I spent some more time looking at your wonderful artwork in your book of paintings! I am so happy to have it! Thank you for sharing your work, in both book and blog form! You are so very talented!

Dear C. k. Agathocleous,
I know what that's like - I don't only forget top comment but I find it hard finding the time to do so.
All the more I appreciate your comment and thank you very much!

Hi Liza,

I know what you mean. My desk is in front of an uninsulated window, and it's like sitting in the freezing wind. I have to put a fleece top on over all the other sweaters etc.

Get warm and don't worry. I love this pepper shaker, for all the reasons you do. It is reminiscent of the diner style some places have revived.
