oil on canvas panel - Öl auf Malplatte - huile sur carton entoilé
15 cm x 15 cm / 5,9" x 5,9"
Buy it hereIt's so hard painting the faces on this small scale. While the lady on the right just somehow flowed out of my paint brush, the one on the left took me hours and pain. It kept going from too big to too small, from too flat to too dark and so on - drove me nuts! But - finally - I can live with it as it is now.

Another terrific composition. They are deep in conversation and so are you. Even their silences are eloquent - and the crockery is listening! The teapot is quite miraculous as well.
Merci, merci Marcia! I enjoyed painting the teapot, but as mentioned, my friend's face was a struggle and it still isn't her!
But I am pleased that you think the atmosphere is there.
Hi Liza,
It's so frustrating when something is difficult to paint -- and I have no idea at all how you get all of this on such a small surface. But the end
result is absolutely perfect, just the right amount of detail and abstraction.

Hi Barbara,
Thank you very much for your kind words! Somehow I can't let go of trying to capture just that person's features, although the main thing here is the mood between the two figures, no matter what they look like. I will have to work on letting go!
