Transition II

Transition II by Liza Hirst

oil on canvas panel - Öl auf Malplatte - huile sur carton entoilé
15 cm x 15 cm / 5,9" x 5,9"
sold - verkauft - vendu

Another attempt at the same subject. I started out completely different with loads of colours and thick paint, but then decided it was far too busy and eliminated more and more details. Now I am quite pleased with the result.

Hi Liza,

It's beautiful, and it moves me. It's the emptiness that's so haunting.

I have a bad conscience for not having replied to your nice comments earlier - please excuse me and thank you very, very much!
It feels good to change our life at the moment (some of you know that we are moving, but we don't know where exactly to...) and although I don't get round to painting very much I feel as if this change has already effected my work - to the better. I feel liberated and ready to take on adventures - a wonderful feeling!

You should be pleased - this is successful on many levels - it says a lot about space, and gives the viewer many options for interpretations. Congratulations.
