Staircase

Staircase by Liza Hirst

oil on canvas panel - Öl auf Malplatte - huile sur carton entoilé
15 cm x 15 cm / 5,9" x 5,9"
sold - verkauft - vendu

I've been meaning to paint this staircase for ages and never got round to it. But as that soon will not be possible any more, I tackled it today at last and am very happy with the outcome. It is a beautiful, old oak staircase with an elegant swirl, which I have climbed uncountable times during the last 15 years....

Once again there's a beautiful mood to this.

I see the love for the place, and the clear understanding that it will live on in memory.

This is a fantastic bravura painting of stairs that I, for one, would never ever even attempt. It has as they say a certain élan! Beautiful!

Thank you, thank you!! I am thrilled that this painting has got such positive response because I was quite pleased with it myself. I was actually a bit worried that I wouldn't be able to capture it properly, but somehow it went very well.
