Chairs by Liza Hirst

oil on canvas panel - Öl auf Malplatte - huile sur carton entoilé
15 cm x 15 cm / 5,9" x 5,9"

A few years ago someone I knew was going to throw these chairs away - luckily I saved them just in time.

Thank goodness you did. Beautiful chairs! Gorgeous painting. I'm afraid I'm a chair freak. My friends and family have to stop me.

Liza, I have been away and am just catching up with my favourite blogs. Your latest paintings are just out of this world - amazing stuff! The use of colour, the concentration on abstract shape - as you say "doing a painting, not doing an illustration". I love that concept.. can't wait to get back into it again.. thanks for the inspiration!

Yeah, they look like the 70s. My parents have similar ones. However, I like them and of course especially yours O;-)

Barbara M - I'm a chair freak too, I bring home strays - these have a Paul McCobb feeling to them - very nice design - and I like the way you made this composition -

Hi everybody, as I am "en route" this week, I am responding to your kind comments a bit late. Thanks to all of you!
