Summer in France

Summer in France by Liza Hirst

oil on canvas - Öl auf Leinwand - huile sur toile
25 cm x 75 cm / 9,8" x 29,5"
sold - verkauft - vendu

For those who visit my blog sometimes this may look familiar to you. It is a new take on one of my recent paintings (In a French Hallway), which I felt lent itself to a larger format and a different composition. I am quite pleased with how the light coming in through the door turned out.

Thank you, Linda! I was intrigued by the format, too.

Freut mich, dass es Dir gefällt, Helen. Die Stimmung in dem Haus war sehr speziell - so friedlich.

You have made a hugely compelling piece, and I, too, love the format of it. I want to be nowhere else but sitting in that sunlight having a meal, cup of tea, conversation at that table. Well done.

Love how the light dances and flows throughout your painting, Liza. What a sharp and observant eye you have. I find the detail of the light shining through the tablecloth so striking, its as if you could feel the cool breeze wafting in the doorway.

I love everything about this painting...the colors, the strokes, the light, the vertical format, the story (did someone just leave or are they about to arrive?...it makes me wonder...).

That's the nice thing about art, isn't it? It can make you imagine and dream. I'm pleased you like it, Elizabeth! Thank you.

Thank you so much, Brian! I very much like your latest paintings of the dunes and ships etc.

Thank you, Graziano!

Thanks to you, too, Polly.
I tried leaving a comment on your blog but for some reason, the comment-window wouldn't open.
I'll try again another time.

Marilyn, I am very pleased you like it so much. Your own work is absolutely stunning! Thank you!

Hi artybecca, thank you for your kind comment. This was the first scene I saw when arriving at a house of some friends. You walk into the entrance door, pass through the hallway and step outside onto a terrace at the opposite end (that's the door you see here). A beautiful view into a vast valley awaits you there - an absolutely stunning location!

I love this one so much that I printed it on glossy photo paper as a bookmark, to have around all the time. It lay on a table and my husband made a beeline for it saying: what's this, it's beautiful!
So there!
