Early Morning Barcelona

Early Morning Barcelona by Liza Hirst

I liked the combination of the greys at the bottom of the painting with the oranges and yellows.
And - I've found the solution for taking a photo of the finished painting. It's tricky but it works - see below:

The sense of light is beautiful in this painting. I, too, love the desaturated foreground against the colorful background - it really moves the eye into the painting.

Good stuff liza.
Over here in the U.s. we call what you did with the camera "yankee ingenuity"
I had to laugh!

I love the view of the sun just starting to light up the city. Nice piece, Liza!

Beautiful, Liza. You pack an amazing amount of detail into such a small format.

wonderful warm light presented here and I do light all the violet contrasts. The photo set up is really intriquing too-I have to try that!

Thanks to all of you for your kind comments! In regard to the photo set up, I would like to mention that at home I have a different camera and a proper tripod and I don't have to lay the painting horizontally to avoid reflections! This here is of course only for the time being...
