Saturday in St.James Park

Saturday in St.James Park by Liza Hirst

A peaceful scene in a park we enjoyed last Saturday, on our walk through central London. We crossed a few parks, followed the Thames, ate in Chinatown and last but not least visited the National Portrait Gallery, where fellow daily painter Olha Pryymak's great self portrait is in the BP Portrait Award exhibition. Her painting has even been chosen for the cover of their leaflet and it was thrilling to see it there!

Ooow wauw look, a French girl in England. When you look closely you can see that the English colour values are creeping inn already!! :-)

Maybe we should make an other arrangement Liza, ... this ones soo lovely.(To be honest David Curtis could learn from this one (-; )

Nice! I especially like the reclining figure in the front.

I love the casual atmosphere you've managed to capture and the looseness of your brushstrokes. Great.

Liza, this is so beautiful! It reminds me of when I got to visit London with my daughters a few years ago & spent of bit of time at St. James Park! :-)

This really says London to me although I don't know why. I think it's the feeling of heat. Last time I was in England it was much hotter than I expected. I'd love to be there.

Super painting.

So sorry for the late reply! For some reason rather my comment button wouldn't work...

Well, René, I guess I'm not really a French girl - neither French and certainly not a girl anymore - but I do feel a bit more at home here. Maybe that's what shows. Thank you very much for your uplifting comment!

I am pleased you like it, Karin. I am quite happy with it myself.

Thank you, Roxanne. It's so nice having all the different parks in the center of London, so that you can easily escape the noise and buzz for a while.
