On the Go

On the Go by Liza Hirst

A typical airport atmosphere which I always enjoy when travelling by plane. Here in Hamburg, from where I took off to London on a warm summer evening.

Aside from the waiting I love airports too -- watching people greet one another when they arrive, and hug. So moving. Lovely painting. Amazing light and glorious abstraction.

Do you know the film "Love actually"? The last scene Is exactly that - people arriving at the airport, greeting and hugging and so on - lovely.
I also like the scales at airports, the wide open spaces flooded with light and people. The worst airport though I ever had to pass through, was Bukarest. It seemed like a prison in a cellar, which I was very relieved to have escaped after a few dreadful hours. This was 25 years ago, so perhaps nowadays things have changed.
