Winterly Warmth

Winterly Warmth by Liza Hirst Another seat at Camden Passage, waiting for somebody to cuddle up in the blanket in order to enjoy sitting outside in winter. I found it difficult to take a photo of the finished painting without reflections and unfortunately it turned out too blue as well. Its actually more white than here. oil on canvas panel - Öl auf Malplatte - huile sur carton entoilé 20 cm x 20 cm / 7,9" x 7,9" sold

What a beautiful and timely painting, so in the moment! Brilliant! As I look out my window you have described exactly the sort of glorious day we’re having here – all that’s missing is the red chair with the cosy red blanket and the fact that I’m nowhere near Camden Passage nor London!

Liza, This is lovely. The linear quality, the light and the warmth of the red - wow.

This is great Liza, love the light and the mood of anticipation. A blanket would not help here today. It is a cooooold one. Super painting.

Thanks a lot, Marcia. My son told me that it is freezing cold in Canada, so I could imagine that even with a blanket, it would not be warm enough to sit outside. My husband and I are actually leaving on a trip to Beijing today (!) where it is supposed to be as cold as in Canada at the moment - something I am not looking forward to!

Thank you very much, Marilyn!

Hi Barbara, actually, for me it would even be too cold to sit outside here in London, but the Londoners seem to be very hearty people. You see them sitting outside late in the evening, often without stockings (!)and hardly any coat or jacket - just amazing. I couldn't bare that.
By the way, Hubert and I are going to Beijing today for two weeks! We are soo excited! See you here after our return. Take care.

Great work, these last two. I especially like the previous piece, with that red blanket really popping. Good stuff.

Thank you very much, A.Decker and Monica, and please excuse the late reply. I have been travelling and without a steady internet connection.
I am pleased you like my latest work!

The lost edge on the top of the table is really effective. And the minimal brushwork on the rest of the piece is masterfully done.

Lisa, this comment from you, the master of minimal brushwork, made my day! Thank you!
