Beijing Hutong

Beijing Hutong by Liza Hirst

A typical street, a socalled "Hutong", in one of the few remaining old areas of Beijing. It was a cold, sunny winter afternoon.

Indeed, it looks cold. So it's great to have those red, red, red lanterns. Schön O:-)

Liza, this series is really strong - both understated and powerful.

Ce Hutong me rappelle celui dans lequel se trouvait notre hôtel!
On sent le froid glacial.
Très beau tableau.

Hi Ulrike, grey and red seemed to be the most apparent colour combination in Beijing, which I liked very much.
Just imagine though, how dull this would be without the red...

Thank you, Marilyn! I'm slowly getting into it.

Thanks a lot, Joanna. Its a pity the hutongs are disappearing more and more, although life might be quite hard there, I could imagine. But the atmosphere is great.

Thank you, Karin! I am pleased I managed to capture the atmosphere. Have the feeling of slowly warming up to painting again. See you soon!

That's great, Barbara, that it actually transmits the feeling of being there. Thank you so much for saying that! For me, too, its a bit like that.
