Hot and Cold

Hot and Cold by Liza Hirst After having painted the last pictures from photo references, I needed to do some work from a real "model" again - our tiny washbasin.

oil on wood panel - Öl auf Holzplatte - huile sur plaque de bois 15 cm x 15 cm / 5,9" x 5,9" sold

Wonderful whites, and neutrals. Love the brass handles. Great treatment of an everyday subject.

Thank you all very much for your kind comments. I am thrilled that this painting has received such positive feedback, as it confirms my own feeling about it. I must do more painting from life!

It isn't the subject, but how it is painted, Beautiful! It really grabs attention.

Thank you, Jacklyn. I agree, to me its nearly always the way something has been painted rather than the subject itself, that is interesting.

Simple everyday subject and yet you took it into the realm of fine art.
This is wonderful!
