After a short trip back to my "comfort zone" (see last few paintings), when I thought I'd had it with the waves, I realized I hadn't...
The weather changed from mild and sunny to cold and stormy and with it, the look of the sea changed, too - of course. So, I felt challenged again ( which went along with a sigh, I must admit) and battled with the difficult subject. So, another few waves to come...

Early Evening Sea

Beautiful colours. The water looks like silver, everything is delicate, the mood is peaceful. Wonderful atmosphere at the end of a bright, sunny day!

Long Wave

Voilà! The whole long wave, as it rolls steadily to the shore. You may notice that the colours are different than in the individual posts, and actually here they are more like the original, quite accurately so even. I simply didn't manage to capture the right colours when I took the individual photos.

Looks easy, but no, not for me. This was a difficult piece of work!

I'm quite happy with this one. After the very graphical, linear subject from yesterday, I enjoyed painting the more organic shapes here.

I am gradually getting fascinated with painting waves, so you can expect to see more of them here. These two "balls" looked at if they were racing eachother, hence the title.

Oregon Coast on Misty Day, painting

This third and last painting of the series that I painted for my Dutch clients was my favourite! I loved working on all the different hues the water reflected and on trying to achieve that special light filtered through the clouds. Although perhaps the less spectacular place of the three, this is where I would most like to have been myself - I LOVE the sea and miss it quite a lot. I hope I will have the opportunity one day to live on a coast again!
