Little Mermaid

Little

oil on canvas - Öl auf Leinwand - huile sur toile
20 cm x 20 cm / 8" x 8"
sold - verkauft - vendu

Here's one of the commissions I have been working on.
This one was hard! I abandoned two first versions and only the third finally, the one you see here, was a success. At least, I think so and the man who received it as a gift thought so, too. That's the main thing - he's happy and I'm happy.

Wow !
Great portrait! I and Petra are impressed. Maybe you should think of participating in the next round of the Kingston Prize. Canada's National Portrait Competition. Just saw the exhibition lately . You would fit in well.

Fabulous! I can see why the recipient was pleased. There is something about the eyes and the smile that makes this girl really come alive. Good for you for persevering.

Oh, wow! Haven't had this many comments in quite a while! Makes me wonder if I should give up struggling with "looser" brushwork and just concentrate on photo realism instead? Well, thank you very, very much, everybody! This is just what I needed after quite a long stretch of frustration and doubt!! I amso pleased you all like it.
