oil on canvas panel - Öl auf Malplatte - huile sur carton entoilé

sold - verkauft - venduThis used to be a tin for cough drops which were eaten a long, long time ago.
So I decided to combine it with some "modern" drops, wrapped in cellophane. I don't think they had cellophane in those days - it was invented in the thirties and this tin is probably older.

What a beautiful painting, and gorgeous tin. I think it's so sad
that most of what used to be sold in these beauties is now in ugly plastic containers. Back when the tin was made the drops were probably wrapped in waxed paper, like Hallow'een candies used to be.

Yes, you're quite right about the ugly plastic containers, Barbara!
I saw a film a little while ago, produced by a man from Toronto, about plastic. It was frightening in many ways. For one thing to learn about the enormous plastic "carpet" in the pacific ocean and it's consequences. And then about the effect plastic has on our brain cells, deforming them through the food we eat and so on. Quite disturbing!
