The Orange Earring

The Orange Earring by Liza Hirst

oil on canvas panel - Öl auf Malplatte - huile sur carton entoilé
15 cm x 15 cm / 5,9" x 5,9"

Instead of going more abstract, as I had intended to, the painting turned out more realistic! Guess I will have to try again sometime. I have a completely different picture of it in my head but getting that out onto the canvas seems difficult.

I hear horrible news form your region, ... everything is all right with you and yours?!

Thanks for asking, René. Luckily we were not touched by the storm except for a few tiles that fell from the roof. Nothing compared to ten years ago, when we had an enormous oak tree land on our car!

Hi Liza,

This is a fantastic painting. This woman is so interesting -- orange
earrings with a mauve sweater. What a combination!

Super expression and great painting.

Hi Barbara,
Isn't that a great combination indeed?! This Barbara is a professional stylist for living magazines and so on, so she has a very good eye for colours and composition and she knows how to create an atmosphere. You should see her house!

Well Karen, as you can see on the following days, this woman and painting her has occupied my attention for quite some time. Unfortuntely I still haven't achieved my initial vision which is quite frustrating, but keeps me going....
