In a French Hallway

In a French Hallway by Liza Hirst

oil on canvas panel - Öl auf Malplatte - huile sur carton entoilé
15 cm x 15 cm / 5,9" x 5,9"
sold - verkauft - vendu

A scene in a beautiful French house we were invited to lately. Thanks to the thick walls that old French houses usual have, it was pleasantly fresh inside, while the heat outside was nearly unbearable.

What you do with light in this painting, Liza, is totally miraculous!!!

Liza, Your painting really conveys the sense of a cool, dark room, on a sweltering day! I love it!

Thank you, Marcia. It was so much fun painting this picture and at the same time not easy. I was determined to capture that atmosphere that I loved when I visited this house!

Hi Liza,

The light in this one, and the peaceful simplicity is just miraculous. Plus there's a feeling of an intimate invitation -- to tea perhaps? So wonderful.
