First of all - I wish all my readers a very "Happy Easter", hopefully with family and/or friends and enjoying such wonderful weather as we are at the moment in Germany!
I painted this from a photo I took in Holland last week. It would be nice to go back sometime and paint "en plein air". The dutch atmosphere is quite special and reminded me so much of one of my very favourite painters, "Jan Vermeer".

I am beginning to like acryliques! As they dry much quicker than oil, even on the brush the paint tends to be dry sometimes, which can create interesting layers of paint on the canvas. The only difficulty occurs when one wants to re-use the same colour as a few minutes ago - it often has already dried up and has to be mixed again from scratch.

The sky in Leiderdorp was purple on a beautiful early morning and the bicycle trails empty. Not so later in the day...

For Easter we have gone travelling again, briefly to Holland (sorry René, too short to meet you) and then on to Germany, where we are now. As I found it difficult to use my oil paints with all the mess involved when on the road and visiting people, I opted for acryliques on this journey and am curious to find out how that will effect my work.

Although I had intended to paint one or two more spanish scenes, I couldn't resist these beautiful tulips in my friend's garden. Guess, that means I have finely really arrived in France! Adieu Spain...

Although I am back in France now, I will stick to Spanish motifs a little longer because I took a few more photos on my early walk the last morning. It was about 7.30, the sun had just risen, the air was like champagne and nobody around - heaven.
