Queen Charlotte in Fashion

collages of watercolour painting and magazine

Last week I did a little watercolour after Sir Thomas Lawrence's Queen Charlotte and while I was quite pleased with the figure itself, I totally messed up the background. As so often with mistakes like that, it lead me to an unforeseen new idea which was fun to try out. I cut out the figure and thought of integrating it into a collage. Well, I didn't actually get very far with that idea, due to time shortage, but I did at least manage to find a few different backgrounds for the Queen in an old fashion magazine. So, here's a selection of those for the time being. Maybe more of this another time. Hope you enjoy....

Hi Liza,

I'm sure Queen Charlotte would be pleased to see you giving her so many different choices. Women like choices, and Queens must love variety.

Hi Anne,
Thanks to you! I am pleased you like these little essays.
It was great reading your post of your trip to Hawai and to get a sneakpeek of your private life. I know how precarious it can feel to publish anything private although one would like to do so more often. I am always holding back...
