Looking at an old boring painting of mine which I was just about to cover with a new hopefully more interesting  one, I suddenly saw potential in it and gave it another chance. A very satisfying experience.  I am quite happy with the outcome - it is more dramatic now, more atmospheric.

Winterly Warmth

Another seat at Camden Passage, waiting for somebody to cuddle up in the blanket in order to enjoy sitting outside in winter. I found it difficult to take a photo of the finished painting without reflections and unfortunately it turned out too blue as well. At Camden Passage

Camden Passage is a small winding street in Islington, seamed with antique shops, vintage- and lifestyle boutiques, cafés and pubs. This was on a cold weekday - tables and chairs pushed together, blankets hanging over the backrest, waiting for the crowds at the weekend, when a flea market spreads out in the street, attracting loads of people, rambling and enjoying a beer or coffee in the open outdoor spaces.

St Paul's I

I like the tower of St.Paul's Cathedral that you can see on the skyline of London from so many different angles. Here's a view seen from Tate Modern, where I visited the retrospective of Gerhard Richter's work the other day.
The predominant whites, greys and purples that the cold light produced appealed to me.

I enjoyed painting this field. I had the feeling of nearly actually sculpting the soil and the grass - thus the title... For quite some time I have played with the idea of painting just soil, no grass, no sky, nothing else but thick chunks of soil, as you see them on the fields now. One of these days I'm going to tackle that challenge!

With Christmas coming up, this is the time of strolling through markets, in search of original presents. Christmas-, book- and antique markets are very popular here in France and often take place in beautiful old barns, all lit up and sometimes nicely decorated.

Still very cold, still trapped at home, but at least we did get some new wood today! (No problem with a truck)
It's supposed to get warmer tomorrow and we will hopefully be ably to do some grocery shopping - slowly but surely we are running out of supplies.
