The Digi Artist

This painting shows the artist Manfred Maerschenz, a german friend of mine from Berlin, who also lives and works in this area in southwest France. He used to paint big, expressive paintings until he decided to concentrate on photography a few years ago, which he transforms with modern technology, creating unique, amazing works of art. We were both recently interviewed for an article about us in the Atlantic Times which I will post as soon as it has been published, sometime during September.

Dieses Bild zeigt den Künstler Manfred Maerschenz, ein deutscher Freund von mir aus Berlin, der ebenfalls hier in Südwest Frankreich lebt und arbeitet. Früher hat er große, expressive Bilder gemalt, bevor er vor einigen Jahren beschloss, sich ganz auf Photographie zu konzentrieren, die er mit moderner Technik transformiert und so einzigartige, erstaunliche Kunstwerke kreiert. Kürzlich wurden wir beide interviewed für einen Artikel über uns in der Atlantic Times, den ich hier posten werde, sobald dieser im September veröffentlicht wird.

Midday Sun

You might not realize from the picture but this is a HUGE parasol!
We were lucky enough to find it years ago at an auction and although at the time we didn't even have a place to set it up, we couldn't resist the ridiculously low price and bought it. Comes in handy now ...!

I sometimes sit in this chair just outside my studio when I take a short break from painting.

Kitchen Table

After two weeks of fairly dreadful weather at last the sun was shining brightly again this morning and I had hardly finished my breakfast when I quickly set up my Guerillabox in our kitchen to capture the light streaming in through the window.
Usually at this time of year we have breakfast outside at the "Breakfast Table" I painted a little while ago but this year it is far to chilly for that in the morning. Are we really in South West France....????

Entrée

Come in through the garden entrance to the mysterious lady's "salon", a beautiful large room with an old stone wall and only a few pieces of interesting furniture. I will take a closer look tomorrow...

The Photo Journalist

So here she is in all her glory, the mysterious lady! She is a good friend of mine and an excellent photographer, who has - among other things - published great photos with articles about remote areas such as Butan or Haiti. I visited her a few days ago and took lots of photos of her and her beautiful home, which inspired me immensly. So keep looking for more about her in the next few days!
