Another room emptied. From this window one has a lovely view down onto our terrace and into the valley - something I will miss very much!
I tried out a different method of painting today - covering layers upon layers, dabbing them off again etc. - not so sure if I like it, but it was fun...

This is in our little holiday apartment, our "gite" as they call it here. The chairs have been sold, the table went today and the boxes are piling up.
There used to be a large painting of mine hanging on that wall, an abstract called "Blue Landscape", which echoed the green of the table in parts - that was sold to Los Angeles a while ago, to a lovely lady who meanwhile has become a friend.
So lots of our stuff has found new homes, just like we will...

Staircase

I've been meaning to paint this staircase for ages and never got round to it. But as that soon will not be possible any more, I tackled it today at last and am very happy with the outcome. It is a beautiful, old oak staircase with an elegant swirl, which I have climbed uncountable times during the last 15 years....

Ginger Dragon

The other day we looked at a storage space for our belongings - a warehouse belonging to a health food shop. At the same time we picked up some of their empty cardboard boxes, which were then piled up in our kitchen. Only then I noticed the nice Chinese writing and the dragon design on them. Voilà!

Moving

We took a car load full of bags stuffed with clothes to the "secours populaire" (people relief ?) today and it was such a good feeling of letting go! Unfortunately I am quite a hoarder and am trying to let go as much as possible at this occasion of moving.

Tulips

These tulips are the last I will have picked in my garden, so I felt like saving them in a painting. I am happy that we are moving out at this time of the year because that way we will be leaving with a memory of all the fresh green and all the colourful flowers that blossom in spring, instead, for instance, of what it looks like in winter .

Beautiful light this morning, flowing through the window onto our breakfast table.
Stacks of books on the windowsill, stacks of books (and other things) everywhere...
I have managed to keep a small corner in my studio free for painting but I don't get down to it very much at the time being. That will change again!

Encounter

People are going in and out of our house at the moment, drinking coffee and tea with us, buying things and paintings. Lots of inspiring encounters, which gave me the idea for the title of this little abstract.

Emergent Cluster

I wanted to use the word "cluster" in this title and wasn't quite sure if it was actually appropriate. So I looked it up and found "emergent clusters", which I thought was just perfect! We've got quite a few of these emergent clusters around the house, ever growing and changing still lifes. What a job to clear out all this stuff - so many little things that one has to decide about: do I want this any longer? Do I really NEED this??

Coffee and Sugar

To some of you this still life might seem familiar as I have painted this corner and the tins before. They are old and a bit rusty, but very nice with "coffee" and "sugar" stamped into the metal on the front. Today it was the sunlight beaming onto the tins and the reflections this created, as well as the shadows on the wall which made me attempt it again.

Anna and Cosmo

Haven't been painting for over a week - so much other work to do...
Our two sons are here with us and my youngest "commissioned" me to do this double portrait of him and his girlfriend, which he wants to take back to Spain on Thursday.
So I somehow squeezed it in and hope it will be dry by then.
Now I am rushing off to a dinner, haven't even changed yet and will answer your comments tomorrow! Thank you all!
