We are enjoying some beautiful late summer days and I am pleased I can still do some painting outside. I started this one yesterday afternoon but the sunlight vanished so quickly that I had to continue and change it today. Glad I got it done!

Summer in France

For those who visit my blog sometimes this may look familiar to you. It is a new take on one of my recent paintings (In a French Hallway), which I felt lent itself to a larger format and a different composition. I am quite pleased with how the light coming in through the door turned out.

The first interior painting in our new home. It looks very romantic, nearly kitschy, when the sunlight beams in through this window. The tree outside is a beautiful limetree.

Visiting Germany for a few days. I have to practice painting away from home, in other people's houses, which I find quite challenging - first of all getting down to it under visiting circumstances and then trying not to spill the terpentine, not to get painting on anything else than the canvas (and inevitably on my hands...) and not being in any other person's way. Pam was very cooperative. She stayed put for as long as I needed her - great!

Sun on the Patio

A concrete wall can be very beautiful. The strong contrast with the sun made all the colours of the old wall in our patio appear much more vibrant.

I am realizing more and more that a simple subject without too much information is much better for me to paint - I don't get wrapped up and lost in it. Very pleased with this one.
